If you are looking for a good, free download, look no further.
Blogging and videos are popping up all over the Internet and with all of this abundance of news feed and video comes format problems. With that in mind, I found, and now use, Media Converter from Cocoon Software. This software will allow you to convert just about any type of media format.
Say, for example, you downloaded a video for you iPod, in mp4 format, and you want to watch it on your desktop through Windows Media Player. The mp4, obviously, can't be watched through the Windows Media Player.
Take the file and drag-and-drop, or even just select it from the folder where you keep it, and then select the .wmv format. Now you have two different files, one for your iPod and one for you desktop.
Quick Media converter has two different modes; easy, which I use and expert which most of you will take advantage of. The biggest difference of the two is expert mode one can adjust the video, audio, and crop the media format of the user's choice, but in easy mode you can't. Also, easy mode has recognizable icons for the different types of media, which is very helpful.
Here is a list of the files this great piece of software can convert:
- .mov (Quicktime)
- .mp4 (iPod and iPhone format, but the software uses different buttons)
- .flv
- .avi (Divx)
- .wmv (Windows Media Player)
- .vcd
- 3gp/3g2
- Ts Dreambox/Firebox format
- Xbox
- PSP (Portable Playstation)
- Playstation 3
- Wii
This software is freeware, but there is a link for donations. I've used this for a week now and I am thoroughly impressed. You should give it a try.

Cool tool, but even better news is that Wizbang-Tech
appears to be making a comeback. Keep it up!
