I was wondering why my Wii had a pulsing blue glow for the last couple days:
Tokyo, Japan (AHN) - Wii users were greeted on Tuesday with a system update enabling Wii Forecast Channel. The weather forecasts are provided by Weathernews and users can check the weather around the globe. The great news is that along with the weather channel, Nintendo will release a trial version of the Opera browser on December 22. Wii owners with a broadband connection can download at no cost.
At first, I was a bit annoyed that Nintendo had disabled the weather channel, news channel, and Opera browser for the Wii launch, but now I understand. Without a rapid succession of blockbuster games to talk about, Nintendo had to come up with some way to keep up the Wii buzz. I'm still working my way through the massive Zelda: Twilight Princess universe.
Head over to Engadget for a few good screenshots of the update process, setup, and weather display options.
