Apparently desperate for a new hero now that Bill Gates is stepping down, the computer industry is turning to the one man who can restore order: Rapper 50-cent.

Taking a cue from the One Laptop per Child project, the Gangsta extraordinaire is looking to close the Digital Divide for young American urbanites:

Rap star 50 Cent is entering the world of technology and is currently in negotiations with Apple's CEO Steve Jobs to produce a line of affordable home computers to inner-city residents.

Technical details are sketchy, as they're still in the negotation phase with Jobs. Considering Jobs' offer of a free version Mac OS X was famously snubbed by the $100 Laptop guys in favor of Fedora Core, this deal could finally give the world a stripped-down, faster OS from Apple. Or a Newton, take your pick.
