German Chancellorette Angela Merkel created a quite a little stir a few weeks ago, when she started her own personal video podcast. A true tip of the Hut to New Media and all its promise.
Unfortunately, one aspect of the New Media, the ubiquity of simple, cost-effective tools, seems to have slipped under Merkel's radar: She spent over $30,000.00 in taxpayers' money creating four episodes of her podcast. Thirty grand seems a bit much for a podcast, as I see it. And, suspiciously, it was created under a no-bid sweetheart contract (crappy translation) with her offical biographer's advertising company, Agentur RCC.
Whoops.
