Ever wanted to see if Vista will run on your new Intel iMac? Want to toast your PC's harddrive? Feel like testing the brutal new OS from Microsoft your own self? Then Microsoft has a deal for you!
You can now download the public beta of Windows Vista directly from Windows Vista site. It's available in 32 and 64-bit versions, and they strongly discourage anyone from trying to install this on a system that can't live up to the specs. Check to find out if your computer is compatible here.
For goodness' sake, if you have any doubt in your abilities, then DO NOT try to install this. This is just for experienced computer professionals and prosumers who have a strong knowledge of operating systems. And are masochistic. It's a Windows beta, for crying out loud.
Engadget has more in the comments on the DVD downloads, and the swamped Microsoft servers.
UPDATE: For those of you who really want to install Vista on your Intel Mac, a thread at the Apple Support Discussions board shows you how, with pictures. Yes, this is an Apple thread, discussing Windows Vista performance...on a Mac.
