OPML Support for Firefox

If you've ever used a stand-alone newsreader to read your RSS feeds, you may have come across a technology called OPML. It's a markup language that was originally used for outlines, but has recently been utilized for saving lists of RSS feeds in a common format for easy import/export from your news reader of choice.

Firefox, although it supports RSS feeds by way of Live Bookmarks, does not have any method of importing or exporting Live Bookmarks for easy sharing. When I came across Share Your OPML, a site that is compiling lists of the most popular RSS feeds by having users upload their OPML files, I wanted to participate, but since I only use Firefox's Live Bookmarks for RSS, I had no way of creating an OPML file... so I wrote an extension.

OPML Support is an extension for Firefox that lets you import and export your Live Bookmarks in OPML format. This lets you switch newsreaders easily, participate in Share Your OPML, or just backup your Live Bookmarks without backing up your full bookmarks at the same time.
